(1) A recent example of Bob’s Jobs work – custom creations

Creating custom-made trim and installing it is a specialty of Bob’s and one that he did recently for a townhouse in Virginia Beach. The owner found us via the internet and had Bob come out to give her an estimate for several renovations and repairs at her home, including the replacement of rotted trim on her front porch.

Unfortunately, the type of wooden trim surrounding her porch is no longer made, so Bob had to get creative. He took careful measurements of the “X”es that you see within each frame and then cut the new pieces of wood on the ground.  He replaced the vertical pieces first and installed the horizontal framework last, as you can see in these pictures of the process, going from left to right:

The homeowner, a single woman, told us she is impressed with Bob’s workmanship and felt that our pricing was “more than fair.” Here’s the final look of her pretty front porch:

(2) What’s going on at Bob’s Jobs – down payments

As our company has grown and we have taken on larger projects, we have recognized the need to require deposits in some cases before we even begin doing the work.  This is especially true in those situations when we have to place a large or special order, such as lumber needed for a deck renovation project.

In those circumstances, we have started requiring a deposit up front, with final payment due when the job is finished and the customer is 100% satisfied with our work. Clients understand and appreciate that we have expenses we need to cover as the work is progressing, and it can be difficult to manage our company’s budget without requiring some money down.
