Kitchen backsplashes – choices!

WHAT’S INSIDE THIS ISSUE:

A recent example of Bob’s Jobs work – kitchen backsplashes

choices

A simple, yet effective way to update your kitchen and give it  some personality is to install a new backsplash.  The variety of available tiles is endless and the choices can be overwhelming.  Just take a look at some of the options that are available at HGTV (click on that link to watch their slide show).

You’ll need to plan ahead if you choose to order custom tiles rather than go with those that are in stock at local stores. We found a nice selection at daltile and found their prices to be quite competitive.  We ordered them for a client  and they took about a week to come in. Here are Rich and Talique, our technicians, maneuvering around cabinets to get the tiles in place in a kitchen:

Choosing a specific colored grout to match the tiles is another very important step, and one that you will want to devote some time to, as the proper “framing” of the tiles will give you a particular look. Grout can blend into the grout lines, enhance the tiles or make them appear darker or lighter, affecting the overall look of your tile installation.  The couple we worked for, above, chose a neutral colored grout that matched the tiles:

Another backspash that Bob’s Jobs recently completed came out nicely and gave the kitchen a custom look in the King’s Grant section of Virginia Beach.  This client wanted the tiles placed in a specific pattern that she designed herself, and we were happy to comply with her request. Here are the “before” (left) and “after” pictures (right) of the area above the stove:

Could your kitchen use a bit of creativity and individuality, a custom look that can be achieved with a new backsplash? Call me, Jo, at Bob’s Jobs, 757-318-0484, and we will be happy to take your ideas and translate them into a beautiful background for your kitchen.
