Little House on the Prairie?

WHAT’S INSIDE THIS ISSUE:

A recent example of Bob’s Jobs work – “Little House on the Pier”

Little House on the Prairie

Nope, we did not work on the “Little House on the Prairie” (only you baby-boomers out there will know this reference!), but we did get hired to renovate the “Little House on the Pier”!

A retired couple, residing in a lovely waterfront home in Virginia Beach, hired us a few months ago to pressure wash and stain the exterior of their guest house and deck where they spend nearly all of their time:

The husband has health problems and they have found it easier to live in their “little house”, as they call it, so that his mobility limitations don’t cause a safety hazard. The “little house” is equipped with a wood-burning stove, a small refrigerator, a microwave oven, a toaster oven, a flat-screen TV, their computer and their phone.  They eat all of their meals out there and enjoy watching the humming birds at the bird feeder as well as the geese on the water:

Since they had used us before, they had become “raving fans” of Bob’s Jobs (click on that link to read how YOU, too, can become one!) and hired us to renovate the “little house”.  Here’s how it looked from the outside with our technician Rich’s trailer in front:

After removing the old cabinets and paneling from the walls, Rich installed brand new mocha-colored cabinetry as well as tongue and groove knotty pine paneling, cutting them to precise measurements with his miter and table saws:

Once the paneling was in place, he applied two coats of a natural, flat sealer to preserve the wood’s natural beauty.  The pictures you see, below, show the contrast between the old, dark paneling and the new, lighter colored wood:

This was one of Bob’s Jobs nicest home remodeling projects to date and we are very proud of the results.  At the time of the publication of this newsletter, the granite counter tops were being installed and the furniture was being reupholstered.
